gallery project
in 1995, goldsworthy opened an artist-run gallery in a storefront at brunnenstrasse 44, berlin-mitte. conceived as a finite, two-year curatorial project, it featured sixteen exhibitions focussing on emerging artists and neo-conceptual practice. from its inception, central to the mandate of the gallery project has been to offer a place to dialog, to blur the divisions of labor in the art business and to pinprick the craven heterodoxy that walls artist, curator, writer, art historian, and marketeer as discreet professionalized "creator-vs.-provider-vs.-arbitrator" categories.
in october 1996 he organized berlin's first alternative art fair “berlin mitte 96.” the fair was located in an empty department store in east berlin, and featured sixteen international galleries, including pat hearn, gebauer, thumm, eigen + art, ars futura, arndt & partner, walcheturm, and vallois. in 1998 goldsworthy moved his gallery project to chelsea, new york city as a five-year program. the project was located at 453 west seventeenth street. from 1998 to 2002 twenty-three exhibitions occurred at this location and the gallery participated twice in the gramercy art fair, nyc. in 2003, 2004 and 2006 goldsworthy curated group shows at ritter/zamet gallery in london and new york. from 2009-10 goldsworthy ran his curatorial project in berlin at alexandrinenstrasse 4, in berlin-kreuzberg. this one-year project featured eight exhibitions and several performance events. in september 2010 the project relocated to 191 chrystie st on new york's lower east side. so far three exhibitions have occurred at this location.artists featured in his past exhibitions include:
